Mayan Calendar When it came to mathematics, time and calendars, the Maya were geniuses. Believing that time repeated itself in cycles, they devised two calendars, one ritualistic, which was used for religious celebrations and astrological predictions, and the other a solar calendar. Both calendars were based on the calculation that a year had a little more than 365 days, a more precise system than the Gregorian calendar. Following the movement of the sun, moon and stars with such accuracy, the Maya were able to predict such mystifying phenomena as eclipses and the Spring and Autumn equinoxes. The Maya kept time with a combination of several cycles that meshed together to mark the movement of the sun, moon and Venus. Their ritual calendar, known as the Tzolkin, was composed of 260 days. It pairs the numbers from 1 through 13 with a sequence of 20 day-names. It works something like our days of the week pairing with the numbers of the month. Thus you might have 1-Imix (similar to Sunday the 1st) followed by 2-Ik (just as you would have Monday the 2nd). When you get to 13-Ben, the next day would start the numbers over again, thus 1-Ix, 2-Men etc. It will take 260 days before the cycle gets back to 1-Imix again (13 x 20). The 20 day-names, meaning and symbol can vary in different Maya languages. Also, each day can be represented with more elaborate glyphs known as "Head Variants" - a formal writing system which can be loosely compared to our script alphabet versus our print alphabet. The Tzolkin calendar was meshed with a 365-day solar cycle called the "Haab". The calendar consisted of 18 months with 20 days (numbered 0-19) and a short "month" of only 5 days that was called the Wayeb and was considered to be a dangerous time. It took 52 years for the Tzolkin and Haab calendars to move through a complete cycle. Their primary interest, in contrast to "western" astronomers, were Zenial Passages when the Sun crossed over the Maya latitudes. On an annual basis the sun travels to its summer solstice point, or the latitude of 23-1/3 degrees north. Most of the Maya cities were located south of this latitude, meaning that they could observe the sun directly overhead during the time that the sun was passing over their latitude. This happened twice a year, evenly spaced around the day of solstice. The Maya could easily determine these dates, because at local noon, they cast no shadow. Zenial passage observations are possible only in the Tropics and were quite unknown to the Spanish conquistadors who descended upon the Yucatan peninsula in the 16th century. The Maya had a god to represented this position of the Sun called the Diving God. End of the Mayan Great Cycle: December 21st, 2012 A.D. Scholars today are recognizing that Mayan mythology is intimately related to the celestial movements of stars, the Milky Way and certain constellations. The sources of Mayan mythology are found in the sky, and the timetable of Creation Day is pinpointed by the end date of the Mayan Great Cycle. My research into the nature of this date reveals that a rare celestial alignment culminates on it. Generally speaking, what occurs is an alignment between the galactic and solar planes. Specifically, the winter solstice sun will conjunct the Milky Way, which is the edge of our spinning galaxy as viewed from earth. Furthermore, the place where the sun meets the Milky Way is where the "dark-rift" in the Milky Way is - a black ridge along the Milky Way caused by interstellar dust clouds (See Diagram 1). Diagram 1: The sky on December 21st, 2012 A.D. showing a rare astronomical alignment - the winter solstice sun is right in the "dark rift" in the Milky Way. This is a feature of the Milky Way anyone can see on a clear midsummer's night, away from the light pollution of industrial society. At dawn on the winter solstice of A.D. 2012, the sun will be right in this dark-rift, and the orientation is such that the Milky Way rims the horizon at all points around. Thus, the Milky Way "sits" on the earth, touching it at all points around, opening up the cosmic sky portal. The galactic and solar planes are thus aligned. "Sky portal" is just a term to describe the "opened sky" scenario apparent when the Milky Way rims the horizon. This is not to be confused with the "dark-rift" itself. In Mayan myth, the winter solstice sun corresponds to the deity One Hunahpu, also known as First Father. The Mayan Sacred Book, the Popol Vuh, is all about setting the stage so that the Hero Twins' father (One Hunahpu) can be reborn, thus beginning a new World Age. The dark rift has many mythic identities: it is the Black Road; it is the xibalba be (the Road to the Underworld); it is a crevice in the branches of the cosmic tree (the Milky Way); it is the mouth of the Cosmic Monster (often portrayed as a frog, jaguar or snake with tree-like features); it is the birth canal of the Cosmic Mother. Overall, the dark-rift is best understood as the birth canal of the Cosmic Mother, who we may call First Mother, to complement First Father. In this way we can trace how these various metaphors are found in Mayan Creation Mythology. And the date of this alignment is, again, the end date of the 13-baktun Great Cycle - a cycle of approximately 5125 years. This all suggests that the ancient Maya were aware of the impending alignment and considered it to be of such importance to be a major transition point, the Creation of a new World Age. In mythological terms, this event is about the union of First Father with First Mother or, more accurately, the birth of First Father (the winter solstice sun - the new World Age ruler) from First Mother (the dark-rift in the Milky Way). The headline appropriate for the upcoming event is: "Cosmic Mother Gives Birth to The First God." World Ages: The Future, Millennial or Mayan? The slow process by which the winter solstice sun comes to conjoin the dark-rift in the Milky Way is a function of a phenomenon known as the precession of the equinoxes. This involves the slow wobbling of the earth's axis, which causes the stellar frame to slowly shift. To observers on earth, it causes the position of the winter solstice sun to slowly move in relation to celestial background features such as the Milky Way. A full cycle is completed in roughly 26,000 years. Approximately 2100 years ago, when both the Long Count calendar and the Popol Vuh were devised by the early Maya, the dark-rift in the Milky Way could be observed some 30 degrees above the dawning winter solstice sun (See Diagram 2). When these early skywatchers discovered precession, they realized that every winter solstice the cosmic birth canal was moving closer and closer to the dawning sun. The winter solstice sun was called the First Sun, the First Lord or First Father, because it is the first day of the year, the beginning of the sun's annual rebirth into increasing daylight. They calibrated the process, and fixed their Creation Mythology to the future alignment as described. Monuments from the early Mayan site of Izapa clearly portray, by way of mythological iconography, the anticipated astronomical alignment of the Long Count end date (See Diagram 3). This is an image of the celestial alignment which culminates in A.D. 2012. Based upon these simple facts, ancient skywatchers in Mesoamerica were apparently aware of a subtle celestial process, the precession of the equinoxes. Knowledge of that process, and the fact that a major alignment in that process culminates at the end of their Great Cycle, strongly suggest a cosmological understanding which modern scholars have yet to explore. Understanding this aspect of Mayan astronomy may help us understand our own impending millennial milestone. What is going on in the world today? Is an alignment of the planets and stars having some kind of influence? The cycle of the equinoxes is primarily an earth rhythm. Whether we call it Mayan or millennial, we are living today in the shadows of a rare celestial juncture. The Mayan myth seems to remind us that all life springs from the Great Mother. The transformation of cosmic recreation is already occurring. Perhaps we should look closely at this celestial alignment, imagine its meanings, and determine what this transformational shift means for future humanity. In the graphic above, is a recreation of the drawing I made when I attended a special meeting in Los Angeles, in June of 1981, related to the forced removal of Native Americans from the Big Mountain area of Arizona (also shared in our Journeys book in Chapter 8). Included in this section is information which discusses this prophecy from this meeting and also various other messages that have been posted on online services. The two horizontal lines represent: The Top Line represents the path of Technology without any spirituality to balance it; the bottom line represent a spiritual path. There are three vertical lines, the first line is the beginning time of the prophecy; the second vertical line shows a time when mankind decides which path to follow, materialism or spiritualism. I think I heard that the two circles on the bottom line represented the first and second World Wars. The heavy dark vertical line, at the end, is the decision time, which path to follow, which is today. If the material path is followed, as represented by the top horizontal line, the result is a very jagged line that will result in destruction. If the lower spiritual path is followed, the result will be peace and harmony. Notes from Big Mountain Meeting ( June 26th, 1981, Los Angeles ) The purpose of this meeting was to educate people about the situation in Big Mountain. In a nut shell, there were large companies interested in land in the Big Mountain area, the northeast part of Arizona, where the Hopi and Navajo (Dine) people live. In the course of discussing this situation, the presenters, including Thomas Banacyca, a Hopi Elder who has traveled all over the world sharing the Hopi Prophecy inscribed on a large rock in Oraibi, AZ - one of the oldest Indian villages known. The Indians said at this meeting that the Hopi Prophecy warns about disrupting the Mother Earth in this region, to stripmine for minerals. Next is information shared during this meeting about the prophecy. THE MEETING WAS DEDICATED TO ALL PEOPLE, ALL RACES (RED, WHITE, BLACK, YELLOW) On the chalk board in the room appeard: PEACE AMONG ALL PEOPLES AND HARMONY WITH NATURE TOGETHER WITH ALL PEOPLE WE PROTECT ALL LANDS AND LIVES AND HOLD THE WORLD IN BALANCE Thomas Banacyca said (paraphrased): The circle with the 4 (o's) and cross within (above), symbolizes the Four Corners Region (where Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico meet - a very high energy vortex). The circle represents no end - the infinite Great Spirit. The Indians believe we are the 5th World of Man. When the 4th World was destroyed (this destruction was foretold), those Indians who had listened were guided to places of safety, underground. After the 5th World was created, they assembled at Four Corners and were instructed to spread out in the four directions (north - south - east - west). Four (4) also represents the four elements in nature: fire, water, air and earth; and the four color races of man. In the Hopi Prophecy, it spoke of a white man who would come to them and help transform the entire continent into a spiritual paradise. He would be recognized because he would carry the fragment of stone which would complete their Holy Stone, filled with Indian writing characters. The Holy Stone had been preserved for thousands of years. Thus, when the white settlers came to the American continent, remembering their prophecy, they were openly welcomed. The Indians shared all they had. But, in return, all the White Man did was to take. The Indians noticed that their White Brothers had brought a cross. However, it was not enclosed by the circle of the Great Spirit, showing the White Man had lost his way. The Indians believe that at the beginning of the 5th World, when man was told to disburse throughout the planet, from Four Corners, the White Race was one of the original races that went East. Upon their return to our continent, they had become confused and forgotten the ways of the Great Spirit. Further the prophecy continued, either the White Man would bring peace and harmony or attempt to totally destroy the Indian's way of life and take all his possessions and the land. If the latter occured, (which is clearly the case today) there would come a time when the Indian people would appear to be almost non-existent. Yet, one day, they would rise out of nowhere, as the white race is falling due to their own ignorance and destruction, to lead a spiritual revolution, so all people on this continent would become attuned to the Great Spirit. To hold fast to the traditional ways even if it seemed that everything was against them. To protect Four Corners at all cost, because there is great power under the land that if it is allowed to escape, great destruction would result. Today, the Indians are going through the test to hold onto their traditional ways and protect the land. The White Man's society is trying to swallow the Indians up. Many of their people, especially the young, are falling prey to the White Man's ways. Their prophecy also talks about creation of atomic bombs as catastrophes of great heat, equal to the heat of a sun. It also warns about tampering with the moon (violating its nature by removing rocks, soil from moon) (Related to the Big Mountain issue:) It is their duty/responsibility to their family, animals and all of nature, to keep this land protected and in harmony. Everything in nature has a power in it. Water represents purification of human beings. All spiritual people should unite on a spiritual path. To save this land is a mission assigned by the Great Spirit. One of the prophecies - All Indians and Non-Indians would one day (now) begin to understand a great problem facing all people. Someday a white brother who went away to record things will return to this land and bring spiritual life to the continent. When White Brother returns, Hopi must keep their spiritual ways so they can show others how to live the right way. Very important job. Elders know ancient knowledge, which also will be shared at the right time with all. Based on prophecy, Indians welcomed the white man. White man destroyed privledge. Indians gave hospitality and whites took everything. Indians do not lie - Whites tricked Indians with lies. By prophecy - Four Corners will be area of confrontation between White and Red. Indians will be pushed into Four Corners. Great Spirit told Hopi - Four Corners is the backbone of the United States. Hopi must hold land till Human Beings live in harmony. The power under the land would be used for destruction. (There would be a) Terrible punishment if give up Four Corners. (Hopi Elders also know about the prophecies of earth changes and Space Brothers - side note). === This concludes my notes from the meeting, which I felt was quite educational about the Hopi Prophecy itself. Unthinkably, these sacred lands are being mined to remove the valuable radioactive minerals, the water table is drastically being reduced through wasteful stripmining (at 1,110 gallons per minute), and the area is being contaminated by radioactive wastes. Because of the Hopis' deep spiritual qualities and sensitivity to nature, they know that the essential electromagnetic balance of life forces is maintained not only through nature's gifts of minerals, water, and sunlight and by the atmospheric currents and charged ion fields, but also by their sacred rituals and ceremonial dances. Their very presence in Hopi land, their demeanor and their reverence for life, is a protection for the people of the earth, for all are bound together in a global grid pattern of energy. Is it possible that the sacrifice of the Hopi "place of power," this vital electromagnetic source point, could affect the earth's ability to withstand the pull of the planetary alignment, resulting in an instability that could spin it out of control? For it is a united "we" who form human consciousness. Thus, if human consciousness is to be alerted, we of the human race must become instantly . aware not only of what is happening but also to whom. For: It is happening to the Hopis and the Navajos who, stripped of their pride as independent nations, will no longer have a home that will sustain life, and many of whom are already dying from radioactive poisoning, It is happening to all sensitive and compassionate individuals who feel their pain, and a responsibility for the ill-treatment of all Indian nations since North America first knew a United States. It is happening to the integrity and honor of a great nation which broke 371 treaties with Indian nations, and to respect once held for those corporations that have allowed human greed to violate their ethics. It is happening to a planet, which, already polluted and suffering from irreverent use of its rich natural resources, cannot withstand the final injury to delicate atmospheric and energy balances. But, above all, it is happening to us, to all countries and all people, to our children, and our children's children, and to all life. For, if the earth shall perish, personal self-interest and acquisition, and even our injustices to one another, will be as nothing. If we are to have a planet on which to live, and live abundantly, this is a time to fully forgive one another for all past grievances and errors of ignorance and together take full responsibility for restoring our earth to its Divinely ordainned state. Ειχα διαβάσει και εγω για το 2012 και για τις προφητιες των Mayas. Αυτο που ηθελα να πω ειναι οτι ενω το ημερολογιο των Mayas σταματαει σε αυτη την χρονια υπαρχει μια προφητια των Hopi (ειναι μια φυλη ηθαγενων Αμερικανων) οπου αναφερει οτι ακρετα χρονια πιο πριν θα ξεκινισει ενας πολεμος διαφορετικος απο τους αλλους οπου οι "rainbow worriors" θα ερθοουν να δημιουργησουν τις προυποθεσεις για την μεταβαση μετα το 2012. Η αληθεια ειναι οτι δεν το θυμαμε καλα, αλλα θα ψαξω να βρω τα αρθρακια που ειχα κρατησει και θα τα κανω post σε αυτο το thread αν σας ενδιαφερει!

Μετα απο αρκετο καιρω ανακαλυψα και εγω αυτο το thread..... Πρωτα απο ολα σατανισμος δεν υπαρχει απλουστατα γιατι ειναι ο σατανας ειναι επινοηση του Χριστιανισμου. Δευτερον γιατι για να ειμαστε μαγοι/μαγισες πρεπει να εχουν α' αντε β΄βαθμο συγκενειας με μαγο. Αν δηλαδη στις προηγουμενες ζωες μας ειχαμε υπαρξει απο μαγοι μεχρι ιεροις και στην ζωη που ειμαστε τωρα δεν υπαρχει καποιος κοντα μας που να εχει ανακαλψει το "μονοπατι" της φωτησης δηλαδη δεν μπορουμε να το διαβουμε ή δεν θα μας επανελθουν ολες οι δυναμεις που ειχαμε συσορευσει μετα απο τοσες ζωες. Μπορει να εχω και λαθος αλλα νομιζω πως απλα ολοι εχουμε παρα πολλες δυναμεις που απλα δεν εχουμε βρει τα κλειδια να τις ξεκλειδωσουμε. Αυτογνωσία (από το βιβλίο "Ο προφήτης", του Χαλίλ Γκιμπράν) Μαγεια για μενα ειναι ο δρομος της γνωσης, ο δρομος προς την αυτογνωσία...

Να ρωτήσω κατι ασχετο??? Μηπως ειμαστε off topic????? Το αρχικό thread ηταν.... Παντως ηταν πολλη ομορφη αυτη η αναδρομη στα κινουμενα που βλεπαμε σε μικροτερη ηλικια!!!!!

Εγω παιζω Toreador!!!!! Αν και ειναι πολλη πιο δυνατοι οι Gangrel και σε βοηθαει στο παιχνιδι.

Για τον ορισμο θα συμφωνισω και εγω με τον johnny_boy. Οσο για το αν αξιζει να ασχολιθει καποιος για μενα τουλαχιστον βρεθηκα να "βαδιζω το μονοπατι" μεσα απο την προσπαθεια μου για αυτοβελτιωση. Μονο επικυνδινο θα μου φαινοταν να βαδιζει καποιος το μονοπατι και να μην τον ενδιαφερει η αυτοβελτιωση του.

Αγαπημενη μου ταινια..... Την εχω και στην προσωπικη μου συλλογη απο DVD με μεταφυσικο περιεχομενο. Αυτη και το Practical magic ειναι νομιζω απο τις πιο καλες αποδοσεις της μαγειας στο χολιγουντιανο σινεμα. :004cheerleader:

Τι ειναι σοφια δυστηχως δεν μπορω να βρω τις λεξεις για την περιγραψω αλλα αυτο που ξερω ειναι οτι "ειναι μακρυς ο δρομος για την "σοφια" (Ιθακη)"...... Οποτε θα συμφωνισω οτι η σοφια ειναι κατι που επερχετε μεσα απο τις εμπειρειες μας αλλα και την επεξεργασια που τους κανουμε. :004unicorny:

Θα βοηθήσει εάν συζητήσουμε το τι σημαίνει «αγιοσύνη»... Τι είναι λοιπόν αγιοσύνη; Εμενα μου κανει κατι σαν αυτο που λενε στον βουδισμό οτι μεσω της πνευματικης αναπτυξης οδηγούμαστε τελικά στην πλήρως συνειδητοποιημένη κατάσταση της φώτισης, ή αλλιώς στην κατάσταση ενός Βούδδα. Ο Βουδας ομως δεν ηταν θεοτητα απλως ανθρωπος οποτε δεν δεν υπαρχει ιχνος αγιοσυνης μονο συνηδειτοτητα.

Εγω πιστευω οτι ο καθενας εχει ενα προσωπικο τροπο επικοινωνιας με το θειο. Υπαρχουν ανθρωποι που τους διευκολυνει να βρισκονται σε ναους και να ακολουθουν συγκεκριμενες τελετουργειες αλλα υπαρχουν και αλλοι που προτιμουν την να βρισκονται μονοι τους και να ακολουθουν ενα τελειος προσωπικο τελετουργικο. Το χειροτερο ειναι οταν υπαρχει εξαναγκασμος. Αν δεν πας σε συγκεκριμενο χωρο να κανεις συγκεκριμενα πραγματα τοτε εισαι απιστος και στην χειροτερη αθεος. Εχουμε μαθει ετσι απλα να εκτοξευουμε κατηγοριες... :headb:

Υπαρχουν ομως και μερικα παγκοσμια "ιδανικα".... Πχ να μην γινονται πολεμοι, να μην υπαρχει κοσμος που πεθαινει απο την πεινα, να μην καταστρεφουμε το περιβαλλον κλπ...... Ο κοσμος θα γινει καλυτερος οταν θα παυψουμε να λειτουργουμε με το προσωπικο συμφερον. Η καλυτερη προσπαθεια εγινε στις κουμουνιστικες χωρες αλλα και εκει ειχε παταγωδη αποτυχια μια και παλι μπλεχτικε ο ανθρωπινος παραγωντας!! :001almostcry:

Αυτο που εγω ηθελα να πω, απο την μικρη μου εμπειρια στο πανεπιστιμιο, οταν κανουν μια ερευνα δεν τους ενδιαφερουν τα αποτελεσματα. Το να πεις οτι ερευνησα αυτο και τελικα δεν εινα σωστη η υποθεση που εκανα ειναι απολυτα θεμιτο. Για αυτο ακριβως τον λογο γινονται παρα πολλες μελετες σε καθε θεμα. Καθε επιστημονας προσπαθει να διφοροποιηθει (εστω και απειροελαχιστα) απο τους προηγουμενους και θελει να δει τι θα γινει με αυτην την μικρη αλλαγη. Ακομα και ακριβως το ιδιο πειραμα να επαναληφθει μπορει τα αποτελεσματα να ειναι διαφορετικα οποτε τοτε γινονται αλλες μελετες για να ελενξουν γιατι συναιβει αυτο. Δεν λεω οτι δεν γινονται μαγειρεματα.... Δεν λεω οτι δεν υπαρχουν συμφεροντα.... Απλα ηθελα να τονισω οτι μερος της διαδικασιας για να αποκτησουμε γνωση ειναι να δοκιμαζουμε μεχρι τα αποτελεσματα να δειξουν το σωστοτερο αποτελεσμα. Ειναι απολυτα φυσικο να υπαρχουν αποτελεσματα που δεν στεκουν επιστιμονικα αλλα και μονο η υπαρξη τους οδηγει στο να κανουμε πιο πολλα πειραματα για να επιβαιβεωσουμε την αληθεια.

Εγω παντως μια μικρη βροχουλα ζητησα να δροσιστουμε λιγο..... Καλο μήνα και απο μενα!!!! :004cheerleader:

Το χειροτερο κακο παντως δεν το κανουν ουτε οι ταινειες ουτε τα σειριαλ. Εχετε δει ειδησεις και συνεντευξεις στην τηλεοραση για το θεμα. Αυτοι ειναι που το διαστρεβλωνουν τελειως το θεμα. Ασε που ποτε δεν καλεσαν κανεναν εστω και ακαδημαικα να μιλησει για παγανιστικα εθιμα. Και μετα μας μιλανε για ελευθερια ιδεων και ανεξηθρυσκεια. Whatever..... :zipped:

Εγω παλι συνηθως ονειρευομαι να ειμαι στο βυθο της θαλασσας.... Εξισου αψογο συναισθημα, απιστευτη αισθηση ελευθερειας και οι ηχοι μαγευτηκοι..... Namiarlda
